Damson Plum Jam - "Irene"
Picked 15 lbs of damsons from Mood's in Mullica Hill on Friday before the storm. Thats a lot of pits. Took me hours to pit but now I have lots of jam.
Recipe:
ratio sugar to jam - 3/4 cup sugar to 1 cup chopped fruit
juice of 1 lemon for every 5 cups or so of fruit.
I made 2 batches one with about 10 cups fruit tand the other with 12 cups. I threw and extra cup of sugar in each batch becasue the fruit wasnt really ripe..maybeshould of added little more.
I did add some pction at the ndof the recipe, about 1 pouch for doublebatch. cooked about 30-40 minutes folled by 15 min bath.
its a little tart but good. See what mother says about quantity of sugar.
It would be really nice to have 2 mauviel jam pots!

spooning on sunday!
Jackie and Anderson are quite a pair. Time for lying around in the sun but Jackie can't resist giving a good ear cleaning. Anderson doesn't seem to mind.

Kitchen coming together
Floors are in and refinished. You can hardly tell difference between 50 year old red oak and new red oak. Appliances have been installed or put in there place so it is starting to look like a kitchen. Went back and forth between tile and stainless steel backsplash and decided to go with stainless. I have island trim on my range which I found out is usually used when doing a tile back splash. I found a local metal fabricator and had them make a 48"x36" stainless steel backsplash for $100. Paul at Cps Metals was very helpful!
